Young Foresters - Middle Spernal

Young Foresters is a volunteering and adventure club for 12-18-year-olds to explore the outdoors, improve health, forge new friendships, and gain valuable work experience. It also supports Duke of Edinburgh Award requirements. Activities include bushcraft, outdoor cooking, natural crafts, and forestry and conservation tasks. The young people attend independently, supported by our experienced staff. Based over two unique sites, this group offers exciting spaces for learning and adventure.

Mini Foresters - Middle Spernal

Mini Foresters is a monthly club where children aged 4-11 can enjoy seasonal activities in the Forest with their families. Join us for den building, arts and crafts, tool use, bushcraft, wildlife exploration, marshmallow toasting, and more. This club runs on the first Saturday of every month, all year round, over two unique woodland sites offering exciting and beautiful spaces for families to explore.

Enhance your photography skills in this exclusive workshop led by British Photography Award winning macro photographer Lee Frost, whose work has been featured by the BBC and National Geographic. Learn techniques to capture intricate details of invertebrates and explore creative aspects like composition and lighting. Supported by Assistant Biodiversity Officer Avery, the session combines photography tips with invertebrate exploration, providing a unique artistic and ecological experience.

Celebrate the beauty of spring with a creative tile-making workshop in the Heart of England Forest. Design, carve, and illustrate your very own terracotta tile, inspired by the awakening woodland. Led by expert ceramicist and The Great Pottery Throwdown finalist David Short, this experience is perfect for anyone who loves the outdoors, enjoys getting creative, and wants to learn new artistic skills.

Spring Foraging in the Forest

All materials are included. Suitable for adults aged 18+ only. Well-behaved dogs are welcome on a lead.

Step into the Forest this spring for a unique, hands-on foraging experience designed just for adults. Guided by Ellie, one of our expert Outdoor Learning Officers, you’ll embark on a gentle stroll through the forest, discovering the hidden edible treasures of the season—perhaps fragrant elderflowers, vibrant nettles, or delicate dandelions. After gathering your foraged finds, we’ll head indoors for a relaxed and creative session, using recipe cards as inspiration to transform our discoveries into delicious seasonal treats. Ellie will provide everything you need, along with expert guidance, to help you craft something truly special to take home.

Garden of Heroes and Villains Fundraiser for the Heart of England Forest

Experience the Garden of Heroes & Villains, a private sculpture garden commissioned by our late Founder Felix Dennis, and meet some of history’s greats, immortalised in bronze. With activities on this open day for the whole family, including a yew hedge maze, poetry garden, woodland walks and a collection of over 50 stunning sculptures, not forgetting the tea and cake refreshments, it's a unique day out in the Heart of England Forest.
