About the role

You’ll work closely with our Access and Volunteer team to deliver our popular evening volunteering sessions. From setting up activities and welcoming volunteers, to leading practical tasks and ensuring sessions run safely and smoothly, you’ll be at the heart of creating a positive volunteer experience.

No two evenings will be the same. One day you could be supporting habitat management, another you might be helping new volunteers feel confident using tools for the first time, all while enjoying our beautiful woodland surroundings.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Facilitating engaging evening volunteering sessions outdoors
  • Welcoming and supporting volunteers from a wide range of backgrounds
  • Delivering simple safety briefings and practical guidance
  • Leading small volunteer groups in hands-on conservation activities
  • Preparing and packing away tools and equipment
  • Helping create an inclusive, friendly, and rewarding atmosphere

What We’re Looking For:

We’d love to hear from you if you are:

  • Friendly, reliable, and enthusiastic
  • Confident working with people outdoors
  • Comfortable leading small groups and giving basic instructions
  • Practical and happy to get stuck in
  • Interested in conservation, volunteering, or community engagement
  • Aware of health and safety good practice
  • Able to travel to different Forest sites (you’ll need your own transport).

Experience using hand tools or supporting conservation activities would be an advantage, but attitude and enthusiasm are just as important.

The Heart of England Forest is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults. Please note this post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.  Applicants must be willing to undergo protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and an enhanced DBS disclosure.
