What inspires you about the Forest?
For most of my life, I have lived within proximity to the Heart of England Forest and have spent many happy times with my family and dogs walking in Morgrove Coppice and Hayden Way Wood. Over the years, it has been interesting to see these areas develop and grow. I have always enjoyed an outdoor life and am keen to do as much as possible to improve and protect our environment.
It is a great privilege to now be part of the team responsible for maintaining and supporting the Heart of England Forest. My role at Alne Wood Park enables me to meet people and discuss the options and benefits of natural burial and show the beauty of this special location.

Q&A
What is Alne Wood Park?
Alne Wood Park Natural Burial Ground is a peaceful 12-acre wildflower meadow, with far-reaching views of the beautiful Warwickshire and Worcestershire countryside. The burial ground is part of a 40-acre site, containing both newly planted and ancient woodland, which is owned by the Heart of England Forest, a charity that is creating and conserving native broadleaf woodland in the West Midlands.
What expertise do you bring to your role?
My background is mostly within the medical device industry, where I held roles that involved working with a wide group of stakeholders on a range of projects and developments. I feel that these experiences helped me to develop a strong sense of listening and understanding the needs of others, communicating information as clearly as possible, and being able to organise quite complex tasks to achieve objectives. I hope that these skills will be useful in my current role at Alne Wood Park, where I will be involved in assisting families with their funeral plans and doing everything I can to help with the process at such a difficult time.
Tell us what you think is the most interesting part of your role
Since joining the team, I have been fortunate enough to meet people at Alne Wood Park and listen to their thoughts on the location of the site and their feelings towards what we offer. This has provided some very interesting insights into the personal views around natural burial, and what that may mean to an individual. In addition, working at Alne Wood Park offers daily opportunities to see and experience the diverse nature of the area.
