The programme will give young people the chance to connect with nature through practical conservation, outdoor learning, and volunteering. During the sessions, participants will take part in hands-on activities and make a tangible contribution to caring for their local environment, while learning more about climate change, habitats, and wildlife.

Young Foresters is designed to help participants build practical skills, confidence, and a lasting connection with the natural world. It will support participants undertaking Duke of Edinburgh awards and will offer structured, supported opportunities for neurodiverse young people to engage with nature in a safe and welcoming setting. 

The funding will support the club for two years, with three-hour sessions taking place on the second Saturday of each month at accessible Heart of England Forest sites across Warwickshire and Worcestershire. The programme is free to attend, with all tools, protective equipment, and support from trained staff provided.

By giving young people the skills, knowledge, and confidence to take practical action, Young Foresters will help nurture the next generation of people who care for nature and their local green spaces.
