Young people plant 1,000 trees in 2019
The Heart of England Forest proudly took part in the Year of Green Action 2019 and are delighted to announce that their pledge to involve young people in planting 1,000 trees has been fulfilled.
The charity, who are working to create a huge 30,000 acre Forest made up of 13 million trees, made this commitment at the start of 2019 as part of Step up to Serve’s #iwill campaign. The trees were planted at Ab Lench and Sheriffs Lench in Worcestershire and mean that the charity has planted 1.8 million trees to date.

Initiatives included a School Tree Planting Day in March which was attended by Rugby Free Secondary School, Tanworth-in-Arden CofE Primary School, The Willows C.E. Primary School and Our Lady’s Catholic Primary School in Alcester.
Vale of Evesham School, the charity’s Mini Foresters group, a special family tree planting day in February and Shipston cubs also contributed to the charity hitting its 1000 trees target.
Head of Learning and Skills Elaine Skates said: “With young people caring passionately about the impact of climate change, planting trees within the Heart of England Forest gives them the opportunity to take practical action to mitigate against its effects.”

“During 2019 we have also increased volunteering opportunities for young people, launching a new monthly Young Foresters club in May for 12-18 year olds.”
Young Foresters and Mini Foresters, another regular group for younger children aged 4-11 and their families, run on the first Saturday of every month. Find out more and book your place.
