We all need a day off sometimes
To allow people to enjoy the Forest 364 days a year, we do need to close our network of permissive footpaths for just one day.
1 day off
We love seeing people out and about, enjoying the network of permissive footpaths and way marked routes though the Heart of England Forest. These facilities are provided through the support we get from our Friends of the Forest, donations made in the car parks and of course help from our crew of volunteers.
Providing this access as permissive footpaths is one of the key ways we manage to open up these miles and miles of footpaths, which we hope to expand as the Forest grows. To allow people to enjoy the Forest 364 days a year, we do need to close them for just one day, and this year it will be on Tuesday 5th December. We will also be closing the car parks on the same day at Barton, Giddings Wood, Coxmere Wood in Braggington and Noleham Wood near Long Marston .
Haydon Way car park and way marked route will remain open on this date, which will perhaps provide you with the perfect opportunity to explore a different part of the Heart of England Forest. Public footpaths passing through any of the woodlands will be unaffected by this 24 hour closure.
We appreciate your support and understanding on this issue. A summary of the footpaths and car parks affected are listed below. Please do get in touch by email or phone if you have any questions.
If you are not familiar with all of our way marked routes then please visit our walks page on the website
