Young Foresters - Middle Spernal

Saturday 1st March, 10:00 - 12:30

Young Foresters is a volunteering and adventure club for 12-18-year-olds to explore the outdoors, improve health, forge new friendships, and gain valuable work experience. It also supports Duke of Edinburgh Award requirements. Activities include bushcraft, outdoor cooking, natural crafts, and forestry and conservation tasks. The young people attend independently, supported by our experienced staff. Based over two unique sites, this group offers exciting spaces for learning and adventure.

Mini Foresters - Middle Spernal

Mini Foresters is a monthly club where children aged 4-11 can enjoy seasonal activities in the Forest with their families. Join us for den building, arts and crafts, tool use, bushcraft, wildlife exploration, marshmallow toasting, and more. This club runs on the first Saturday of every month, all year round, over two unique woodland sites offering exciting and beautiful spaces for families to explore.

Spring in the Heart of England Forest Arboretum - Guided Walk

Sunday 6th April, 10:00 - 12:30

Celebrate the arrival of spring on a 2.5-hour guided walk with Forest Ranger Aaron through the Dorsington Arboretum and surrounding woodlands where fresh greenery, budding blossoms, and the vibrant sights and sounds of wildlife bring the forest to life. Along the way, Aaron will share fascinating insights about native and international tree species, pointing out seasonal highlights, and introduce you to the wildlife that thrives in the forest during this time of year.

Natural Burial: Sustaining Earth and Honouring Life - Guided Walk

Please note that this event discusses death and funerals in a practical and direct manner, so that should be taken into consideration when deciding whether to attend.

Join one of the Alne Wood Park team on an early evening guided tour of Alne Wood Park Natural Burial Ground, exploring the significance of remembrance and ceremony through the lens of Natural Burial. This event will provide plenty of space for reflection and dialogue, with time for your questions at the end. It will also allow you to experience the peace and beauty of the site as Springtime starts to awaken the flora and fauna in and around the meadow.

Spring Bluebell Flower Painting Workshop

Saturday 26th April, 10:00 - 13:00

At the end of the session, you will be able to take home your finished picture. All materials and tea/coffee/biscuits are included in the price. Suitable for adults aged 18+ only.

Join us for a Spring Flower Painting Workshop in the beautiful surroundings of the Heart of England Forest at Gorcott Wood. Spend a relaxing morning learning to create an acrylic painting on paper. In a small, friendly, group environment, you will learn the techniques used to create paintings of spring flowers native to our forest. At this time of year, hopes are high that you’ll see a carpet of bluebells and be able to use them as your subjects. Aside from just bluebells though, our forest also boasts a plethora of other beautiful spring flowers meaning there won't be any lack of inspiration when it comes to your paintings!
