

Connecting with the Forest Closely and Creatively - Immersive Art Workshop
Get ready to experience the Forest from a different perspective, treat your senses to a creative experience in by where you can tease out your creativity and play with the term ‘art’. This guided event will be led by former illustrator Julie Walton-Evans, who now works as part of the communications team in the Forest. During your morning, be open to any possibilities and really allow yourself to experiment with expressing yourself within nature. Let the Forest become your muse and unleash your inner artist. You will be emersed in the semi-ancient woodland of Alne wood, a truly magical and inspiring spot, perfect for you to lose yourself and escape the distractions of day-to-day life, while creating something truly beautiful.
You will be provided with art materials and be able to take all pieces of art home with you.

Young Foresters - Middle Spernal
Young Foresters is a volunteering and adventure club for 12-18-year-olds to explore the outdoors, improve health, forge new friendships, and gain valuable work experience. It also supports Duke of Edinburgh Award requirements. Activities include bushcraft, outdoor cooking, natural crafts, and forestry and conservation tasks. The young people attend independently, supported by our experienced staff. Based over two unique sites, this group offers exciting spaces for learning and adventure.

Mini Foresters - Middle Spernal
Mini Foresters is a monthly club where children aged 4-11 can enjoy seasonal activities in the Forest with their families. Join us for den building, arts and crafts, tool use, bushcraft, wildlife exploration, marshmallow toasting, and more. This club runs on the first Saturday of every month, all year round, over two unique woodland sites offering exciting and beautiful spaces for families to explore.

The Secret Life of Woodlice - Online Workshop
Woodlice play a crucial role in ecosystems as decomposers, breaking down decaying plant material and recycling nutrients back into the soil. Understanding woodlice ecology and identification is key to monitoring their numbers and protecting their habitats. Join Avery Hill, invertebrate enthusiast and Assistant Biodiversity Officer at the Heart of England Forest, as we explore the purpose and benefits of woodlice, their fascinating adaptations, and how to identify a few common species. By the end of this online session, you will have a deeper understanding of their anatomy, lifecycle, and key identification features.

Autumn in the Heart of England Forest Arboretum - Guided Walk
Experience the magic of autumn’s vibrant beauty on a 2-hour guided walk with Forest Ranger Aaron through the Dorsington Arboretum and surrounding woodlands, where the trees are putting on their most spectacular display of the year. Along the way, you will discover seasonal wildlife, stunning landscapes, and learn about the ecological importance of trees.
